Melanie McCune Family Child Care

I am a large family childcare provider and have been licensed since 1993.  My early childhood program serves children from birth to 4 years of age and is based on the principle that children learn by doing and by having fun!

Our daily schedule includes time outside in a large, fenced in and shaded playground including nature walks and water play with sprinklers.  Indoor time is spent both in free play and in structured learning activities.  All activities through out the course of your child’s day will help develop the necessary skills for successful Pre-k or kindergarten readiness.

Reading, language, literacy, pre-math and pre-reading skills along with art, cooking and motor development activities are added to dramatic play, social development and the intangible skills needed like manners, patience, kindness and following directions.

The very best part of our schedule, though, is FUN!!!  Lots of love, laughter and old fashioned fun is what makes the real difference in the development of your child’s self esteem and foundation for a lifetime of learning!

My family is a large part of my program and together we provide an ‘extended family’ for each child.  My mom – “granny” – and my daughter, Rachael are substitutes for me and my husband, “Mr. Ronnie” is here full time to help me guide, teach and love each child.

As a parent, you will receive many photos of your child’s day, newsletters about developmental issues and a bi-annual assessment to ensure developmental progress is on target.  Additionally, we have several social events including dinner, picnics and parent’s night out where you have the opportunity to meet the families your child is spending their day with.

Meals are supplied by me and include breakfast, lunch and two snacks – all which are monitored by the Lutheran Services Food Program to ensure proper nutrition.

Professional development is very important to me and aside from annual training requirements, I have also received my CDA, National Accreditation, Florida Gold Seal and Master Provider Level III Certifications.  I have just received my Diploma in Theology and am working on my degree in Early Childhood and Christian Education.

I believe “KIDS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE & learning should be FUNdamental!” Kids are a blessing and an investment that never returns without value.
